Practical Matters
Below you will find some information regarding my private practice policies. Details will be reviewed during our initial consultation and I am happy to answer any questions.
Initial Consultations
The first 1-2 sessions are spent gathering information and determining if we are a good fit for treatment together. At the end of the consultation, I will give feedback and recommendations about my therapy approach and what the process would look like going forward. If we choose to work together, we will meet weekly at a designated time for 45 minutes. During the consultation, we will discuss fee and other practice matters as well.
Sessions
An initial consultation session is 60 minutes. Subsequent psychotherapy or consultation sessions are 45 minutes in duration and take place once per week unless otherwise determined. In some cases, we may meet twice per week or biweekly.
Cancellation Policy and Rescheduling
If you cancel with at least 48 hours notice, you will not be charged for your scheduled appointment. If you have not notified me of a cancellation within 48 hours, you will be required to pay the full fee for the session. I will do my best to reschedule the missed appointment as our schedules permit. Rescheduled appointments need to take place within one week in order to not be charged.
Insurance Reimbursement
I do not accept insurance and am considered an out-of-network provider. All fees are due in full at the time of our sessions. I provide receipts (“superbills”) and diagnosis codes for you to submit to your insurance company for partial reimbursement. Before meeting, you will want to call your provider and inquire about your policy for out-of-network behavioral health care.
Phone Calls
I do not charge for brief phone calls. Phone calls that exceed 15 minutes are pro-rated according to my session fee.
I use email sparingly and only for scheduling purposes or exchanges that are not personal in nature. Please do not write personal details in email. If you are trying to reach me regarding an urgent situation, please call me.
Emergencies and Urgent Calls
If we are working together and you experience a clinical emergency, it is imperative that you call 911 or go to your local emergency room. Since I am not available 24 hours, I cannot provide emergency services. However, if you have an urgent issue that is not an emergency, please leave me a voicemail and I will call you back as soon as I am able.
No Surprises Act (NSA) Notice
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.
