About Hannah Meister, PsyD

I earned my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology at Yeshiva University in New York. I have worked in a variety of mental health settings and worn many different “hats” with people from all walks of life. My style is approachable, interactive, and warm. I often include humor and a direct, conversational approach to therapy. I look forward to meeting you!

Practice Philosophy

I strive to create a warm environment for clients of all ages and create a collaborative relationship that empowers my clients to reach their potential and where growth and change is celebrated. I emphasize creating a positive and fun therapeutic experience when working with children and adolescents so they feel good about attending sessions. Parenting work is a large component of a young child’s therapy and I provide parent psychoeducation and coaching to help a child achieve their goals.

My Approach

I believe one of the most important elements of effective psychotherapy is the genuine connection between the client and therapist. My approach to therapy is interactive, supportive, and empathic. We will work together in an atmosphere of acceptance and safety to achieve greater self-awareness, freedom from negative thoughts and criticism, emotion regulation, and relationship satisfaction.

Everyone seeks therapy for different reasons - sometimes we are looking for concrete help with our schooling or career and sometimes we are struggling with difficult family dynamics or interpersonal relationships. Other times we have an overwhelming feeling that something is missing or unsettling but we cannot identify it. I am here to tackle each of these unique challenges with you, help you gain clarity, and improve your functioning.

Experience and training

I am a licensed clinical psychologist and obtained both my Masters and Doctoral degrees from Ferkauf Graduate School of Psychology at Yeshiva University in New York. I have worked in a variety of mental health settings including a residential school, community mental health clinic, inpatient hospital, sexual abuse clinic, psychiatric emergency room, consultation/liaison service, child development clinic, as well as most recently at the Ross Center, a group private practice in Washington, DC. With these myriad of training experiences, I am able to work with you to formulate therapeutic approaches and strategies that best help you meet your goals.
